Healing from Trauma: You’re Not Alone

At McPherson Clinical & Consulting Services, we understand that trauma can leave deep and lasting marks—on your emotions, your body, and how you see the world. You might feel stuck in the past, overwhelmed by daily stress, disconnected from your relationships, or unsure how to feel safe again. Whether your trauma comes from childhood experiences, systemic oppression, violence, grief, or a single painful event, your story matters—and healing is possible.

Our team offers compassionate, trauma-informed counseling in a safe and supportive environment. Here, you’re not expected to “just get over it.” Instead, we walk with you—at your own pace—as you begin to process, release, and rebuild.

How We Help

  • Trauma affects the entire nervous system—not just the mind. That’s why our approach is holistic, combining proven techniques that work with both your thoughts and your body’s natural healing responses. We’ll tailor your care to your unique needs, and gently guide you toward greater peace, clarity, and connection. Our trauma counseling may include:
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS): A gentle method for exploring and healing the different “parts” of yourself—especially those that carry pain, fear,
  • or shame—so you can feel more whole and grounded.
  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): Helps your brain process stuck or overwhelming memories, so they lose their
  • emotional charge and stop interfering with your present life.
  • Brainspotting: Uses focused eye position and body awareness to access deeper emotional pain, often reaching what words cannot.
  • Somatic Experiencing: A body-centered approach that helps release trauma stored in the nervous system, restoring your body’s natural sense of
  • safety, calm, and balance.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Supports you in identifying and shifting thought patterns that contribute to anxiety, avoidance, or self-doubt.

You don’t need to know which modality is right for you. We’ll explore together and create a path that honors your experiences and supports your healing.

What You Might Be Feeling

If any of these feel familiar, know that you’re not alone:

  • “I feel tense and on edge all the time.”
  • “I can’t stop reliving what happened.”
  • “I try to move on, but I feel stuck.”
  • “I don’t feel safe—even when I know I am.”
  • “I want to heal, but I don’t know where to start.”

You don’t need to carry this pain forever. Trauma counseling is not about rushing or forcing recovery—it’s about creating space to breathe, to feel, and to heal in a way that’s safe and empowering.

A Culturally Rooted, Affirming Space

We recognize that trauma doesn’t exist in a vacuum—it’s often shaped by systems of oppression, generational harm, and identity-based violence. That’s why we are deeply committed to serving BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals with culturally aware, inclusive, and affirming care. You deserve to be seen, supported, and treated with dignity.

You don’t have to heal alone.
Let us walk with you toward relief, resilience, and reconnection.
